[NBA] : The origins of the City Edition jerseys of each NBA team * Part 1 *
The month of November was marked by the creation of jerseys called “City Edition”. The purpose of these jerseys is to pay homage to the city hosting the franchises by creating jersey models specific to their culture, for example the Miami Heat jersey in light colors (blue) and which reminds us of the sunny weather in the region.

This City Edition jersey is shown in black with vibrant fishing accents for an exciting new color. It symbolizes strength (black) and a renewed spirit (fishing) with the name of the iconic avenue engraved on the chest. Distinctive details include the famous “ATL” designation at the waist, the hybrid fishing / basketball knee symbol and the jersey from Atlanta-based Atlanta-based digital healthcare company Sharecare. "Peachtree" symbolizes the streets that connect neighborhoods, from Bankhead to Buckhead, from the West End to East Atlanta Village and throughout the greater Atlanta area. "
The Celtics highlight the Irish roots of Boston with green and gold jerseys, adorned with the symbol "Boston" written in Gaelic characters on the front. The Cs will wear the jerseys several times during the 2019-2020 season and will make their debuts next Wednesday evening, November 27, at the reception of Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets in Boston.
Like last season, it's a tribute to rapper The Notorious BIG, legend of American hip-hop, native and emblematic figure of Brooklyn. The Notorious BIG, known as Biggie Smalls, whose real name Christopher George Latore Wallace was born on May 21, 1972 in New York and died murdered on March 9, 1997 in Los Angeles with a driving gun. It is part of the legends of the city Brooklyn, this is why the franchise wanted to redo a tribute to the latter. We find the inscription "Bed-Stuy" on the chest, an acronym of the word Bedford-Stuyvesant, the Notorious BIG district On the edges, the color inspired by the Coogie sweatshirts that Biggie used to wear is still present . For some people, this City Edition jersey is among the best of the 2019-2020 season.

The numbers on both sides of the jersey are white with a purple outline, while the name of the player on the back is all purple. The trim around the neck and arms is purple, turquoise and black. The team name “The Hornet's Nest” dates back to Charlotte's colonial history and found its way onto the City Edition jersey. The shorts include the honeycomb shape of a hornet's nest on the loop .
This year, the Chicago Bulls jersey will feature a dominant color which is powder blue. These powder blue jerseys are inspired by the Chicago flag, but only in color. Designed in collaboration with Nike, the 2019-20 City Edition uniform is the latest installment of five uniforms that will be worn during the 2019-2020 season. The feather-shaped “Cle” logo on the front of the jersey comes from the team's first uniforms. The navy blue colorway is inspired by the alternative jerseys worn by the team from 2005 to 2010. The front of the jersey highlights the uniform worn by the first team of Cavaliers (1970-1974) with the letters CLE golden writing accented with a feather.
The Detroit Pistons City Edition jersey is an evolution of the black and gray version of last season and is part of Detroit culture while offering Pistons fans a limited edition jersey option at retail. Thanks to their collaboration with the NBA and Nike, the Pistons created this uniform inspired by both automotive culture: the Motor City at the front, wide carbon fiber strips and a carbon fiber texture, a color bold for muscular cars. The jersey, which has a basic red color with blue accents and ornaments, will be accompanied on the field with special warm-up clothes. The Pistons last used a red alternative uniform in 2006-07.

The Miami Heat repoposes for this year the same City Edition jersey as last year, the Vice jersey was very appreciated by the fans and reappeared for the 2019 - 2020 season. The color has changed, going from white to sky blue, these light colors remind us of the good weather of the city and the Vibe of Miami. It is also a reference to the American television series “Miami Vice” released in 1984
The cream color of the jersey is a nod to the bricks that built Milwaukee's foundation and earned it its nickname "Cream City", which is now proudly presented to the world on the front of the jersey. The details of the jersey, including the green and blue stripes of the scripts and the blue and blue stripes, recall the first games of the Bucks, but with a resolutely modern touch. The jersey clearly highlights the stylized “M” found throughout the Bucks brand as an additional representation of the team's hometown. Overall, the jersey was created in honor of a brick built in town by Cream City.
NEW YORK KNICKS
The jersey features a dark navy color reminiscent of the firefighter uniform, a reflective piping evoking the firefighter work uniform and the UFA logo on the City Edition shorts. The traditional orange of the Knicks, also included, highlights the colors and identity of the team.
Long before the theme parks brought the country to Orlando, the groves of lemon trees in the region brought Orlando to the country. Hence orange citrus nuances on the neckline, side panels and bikini bottoms.
The 2019-20 City Edition uniform pays homage to the Liberty Bell, a Philadelphia landmark, which embodies the resilience of Philadelphia. The parchment color uniform features the blue cursive script "Philadelphia" and mainly displays the crack in the freedom bell on the side of the uniform. On the front, the jersey has the embroidered phrase "Pass and Stow" written on the front of the Liberty Bell. The two names are derived from the workers at the Philadelphia foundry, John Pass and John Stow, who remelted the original bell in 1753.
In collaboration with OVO, the jersey retains its traditional black and gold color palette, while infusing elements of the Raptors' uniform from the team's inaugural season. The back of the jersey also has the spikes above the player's name on the original Raptors jerseys, as well as the jagged stripe on the side. Finally, a famous gold patch representing the NBA championship in Toronto is also highlighted on the back of the collar.
With a few slight modifications, the Wizards are back in jerseys that are very similar to the one John Wall wore at the top of the shooter table during the 2017 playoffs. There are only three significant differences between these City Edition jerseys and the old Stars and Stripes jerseys from two years ago. * "Washington" on the front of the jersey has been replaced by "DC" * The numbers have changed from blue to red. * The DC flag has been added to the waistband of the shorts. Other than that, they are pretty much identical.
